My #1 Success Secret As a Wife
It’s been awhile since my last blog post. Between preparing for the students in my Etiquette University, and ministry events…and well, trying to not just survive, but thrive with three under 5, it’s been quite busy! I’m enjoying the journey. But this post is all about being a wife.
A wise woman buildeth her home….
It’s my passion that wives realize that God has already given them the tools that you need to be a good wife….not a perfect wife, but a good wife. It is up to us to rise up to the occasion. My mom died before I was married, so I was on the prowl to learn everything that I could about being a good wife on my own at times. I’ve learned so many great tips and as we approach 6 years of marriage in less than 4 months, I must tell you my #1 success secret.
What has helped me really be able to be in sync with my husband for the last several years is the fact that I keep a “Desire Journal” that is allll about my husband. I try to write in it every single day.
In my desire journal, the first thing I do is PRAY for my husband. I write very specific and detailed requests to God concerning my husband in this journal. Afterwards, I intently pray over him morning, during the day, and at night. I ask the Lord to show me everything that I need to do to be an excellent wife and helper to him.
Helping Note: God has graced you to be the answer to your husband. Don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed. You have it in you!
The next thing I do, is OBSERVE him. Over the course of the years, my husband’s desires have changed. Sometimes, he may love darker colors in our home, and other times he may like lighter colors. We have several meetings where I’ll ask, “How do you like how the house looks? How do you like my hair like this? Is there anything that you would like done differently? “
I’m very creative, so atmosphere means a lot me, and I know that it means a lot to my husband as well. He is the king of our home, and our home is his castle. I want it to always be visually appealing, and a place of peace and tranquility.
Lastly, I IMPLEMENT these things. Sometimes, it may be simply adding a beautiful array of flowers to our kitchen. Other times, it may be changing up pillows to a certain room. Lately, it’s been making sure that we have organizational systems in place, so even when I’m gone, he’ll know where everything is.
So far, he’s been happy. We are enjoying the journey, and excited about the years to come because it IS possible to have a happy marriage, and be a great wife! Comment on this post and let me know what you will do today to start being more in synch with the order of your home.
We have a role ladies. God has not called the women to be the men, and He has not called the men to be the women. The role of the women DOES NOT mean that we can’t be successful just as much as the role of the man does not entitle men to success. However, when each individual embraces their God given role we find that we are more in synch with God given favor.
There is so much more that I could teach about being a wife, preparing to be a wife, and especially about organizational management. I believe that when your mind and surroundings are filled with disorder, then your life will follow the disorder. I would love to take you on a journey with me for 21 days and help bring order into your life with proven systems that would only take 30 minutes of your day to implement. After all, who has hours and hours? Whew, I don’t. If you would like to go on that journey with me click here, and I’ll send you more info shortly.
Love you all so much,
Amanda Ferguson
I am glad that you wrote a blog on success secrets as a wife! Very inspirational and definitely very helpful for myself.
I will be purchasing a Journal!!
Welcome, and yes I loooove journals!
Thanks Sister Amanda for this blog post. Even though I’m not married yet. But these tips are very helpful and I’ll be sure to use them once I get married. I really enjoyed reading this blog for sure!!!
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help:)
I am so thankful for this blog. This is a breath of fresh air. I’m learning that we don’t have to tell our husbands what to do. That is not our job. We are supposed to present ourselves in godly character before them and intercede for them. I would love for you to write a book or devotion on how to be a successful wife. A lot of women need to know it is possible. Thanks for sharing!
Amen, definitely not our jobs to tell them what to do! A large portion of my 21 days of organizational management will be including lots of tips to be a successful wife. Hope you join us on the challenge!
Love this! Giving me lots of tips to meditate on before marriage comes for me!
awesome! Glad to hear:)
I am 6 weeks away to becoming a wife and so I am alert to every piece of information that will help me in the process of becoming (preparing) and remaining a wife. This I find extremely helpful. I love simplicity and this post just nailed it for me. Journal is such a great idea.
I am also very creative but find that I am challenged in the sphere of organization and I see this could be a problem as the man I am marrying is very very organized. Already have I expressed I want in!… But thank you for this idea. 🙂

Dear Lady Ferguson,
as much as I value your opinion on success secrets of being a wife. I have never really thought about remarrying. I just accept the fact that I am at that stage in life whereby I have done the marriage thing it is now the serving of God thing that I need to do. I feel that if I embark on getting married again, my life is already past half way, I don’t have time to make any further mistakes and should focus on what God’s purpose is for my life. I just accept that I am not just cut out to be a wife. I don’t know how to be a good wife. Yes you can teach me I can learn , but it takes a lot of effort to find a partner and I just don’t wish to get my mind set to that level anymore. My focus is on perfecting my skills and what God wants me personally to do. I hope I am making some sense.
Regards,
